Job description

Location: Various event venues
Working hours: Casual shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

The ExcluSec Group is looking for approachable, reliable Event Safety Stewards to join our team at sporting fixtures, concerts, festivals and other public events.

You’ll help visitors feel welcome, find their way around and enjoy the event safely. From directing spectators to their seats to spotting a blocked exit, your attention and communication can make a real difference.

An SIA licence is not required for this role. You will carry out stewarding duties and work alongside our supervisors and licensed security teams.

What you’ll be doing

  • Welcoming visitors and providing friendly, helpful customer service.

  • Checking tickets or passes and directing visitors to the correct entrance, seating area or facilities.

  • Managing queues and helping people move safely around the venue.

  • Monitoring your allocated area for overcrowding, hazards or signs of distress.

  • Keeping aisles, exits and emergency access routes clear.

  • Reporting incidents, concerns and unsafe behaviour promptly to your supervisor.

  • Assisting visitors who need additional support, including children and vulnerable people.

  • Supporting evacuation procedures and following instructions during an emergency.

  • Attending event briefings and following the venue’s safety procedures.

  • Using radios professionally and completing incident reports when required.

Working as part of the team

You’ll report to an Event Supervisor or Team Leader and stay in your allocated position unless instructed otherwise. We expect our stewards to arrive on time, remain attentive and represent The ExcluSec Group professionally throughout each shift.

If a situation requires security intervention, you’ll alert the appropriate team and follow your supervisor’s instructions. This position does not include duties that require an SIA licence.

What to expect

This is an active, public-facing role. Depending on the event, you may spend extended periods standing or working outdoors in different weather conditions.

Shifts will vary according to the event schedule, with opportunities to work across different venues. Role-specific guidance and event briefings will be provided, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress into supervisory roles.

Job requirements

  • A friendly, approachable manner and good customer service skills.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.

  • Reliable and punctual, with a professional attitude.

  • Able to stay calm in busy environments and raise concerns promptly.

  • Good awareness of your surroundings, with attention to safety and detail.

  • Comfortable working as part of a team and engaging with members of the public.

  • Available for event shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

  • Able to carry out the duties of the role, which may involve prolonged standing and outdoor work, with reasonable adjustments considered.

  • The right to work in the UK.

Previous experience in stewarding, events, customer service or hospitality would be useful, but is not essential. You must be willing to complete relevant training and attend event briefings.

No SIA licence is required for this position.
